On 4/27 I was really lucky to find an awesome stick for hiking on the
bottom of the Grand Canyon, precisely on the Colorado river. It was
really smooth from the water that it must have been traveling with for
quite a long time. It had the perfect length and strength and was also
really light, good for carrying it with me. It carried the name Gandalf
Staff, and it was an adventure to go hitchhiking with it, because a lot
of cars don't have a lot of room. I was expecting that I had to throw it
away at one point, because I couldn't fit it into a ride that we were
taking.

Because Michaela was struggeling on the way down into the canyon, I lent her the Gandalf Staff for parts of the way up, it seems like it helped her :)

After arriving at the top of the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, everyone was happy, and it was time to through away this hat, that I had bought in Byron Bay, NSW, Australia.

A couple of days later, we took the Staff for a hike through the Pfeiffer Falls State Park on the Big Sur Coast of California, somewhere along Highway 1. (See above) And again, a longer while later, after a lot of hitched rides, the staff accompanies our hikes through Sequoia National Park (see below).
not sure why this pose again and again...
Scary edge on the Upper Yosemite Falls, this would be our last hike with the Gandalf Staff...
and here some special features
and this is how he died...
when running down the really rocky trail from the Upper Yosemite Falls, the bottom got stuck between two rocks, but because I couldn't pull it out fast enough, it broke...
